How to get people to clear their plates.

In IKEA Milton Keynes recently, I noticed this great sign. It’s basically asking people to take their plates and rubbish to a central point in a self-service restaurant.

But it uses good, respectful language to do it.

It’s a sign that could easily have appeared to tell you off or make you feel guilty. Notice that the author totally understands ‘my’ point of view. It answers a question that would naturally spring to mind.

It doesn’t surprise me that IKEA does this because this brand maintains an excellent dialogue with its customers, who always seem to speak warmly of the store.

IKEA Milton Keynes treating people with respect.
